Study Abroad
One of the missions central to Rollins is our quest to turn out globally engaged leaders and problem solvers, and one of the ways we accomplish that is by prioritizing international education programs and study abroad opportunities. Our focus on service learning aligns perfectly with our students’ desire to gain new perspectives, and many of our field studies include aspects of community service. And international experience can often serve as a springboard to success—many Rollins students go on to apply to prestigious scholarship programs that emphasize travel, such as the Boren Scholarship or the Fulbright. Our Office of International Programs makes it easy to apply and even offers aid to qualified students. With more than 90 study-abroad options to choose from, the only question is how far will you go?

A World of Opportunity
With more than 90 programs to choose from, you can tailor your study abroad experience to your goals with short-term field studies or semester- and summer-long programs. Our faculty and staff advisers help you choose from a host of options tied to criteria like internships, your major, or specific destinations.
A Gateway to Greatness
Prestigious scholarships with an emphasis on travel—such as the Boren Scholarship, the U.S. Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship, and the Fulbright Scholarship—tend to recruit students with study abroad experience. As a result, Tars who study abroad as undergrads have a competitive edge when applying for international jobs, fellowships, and graduate programs.

First Year Field Study
Each year, environmental studies professor Barry Allen leads a group of incoming first-year students on an expedition through Costa Rica’s national parks—all before they ever set foot in a Rollins classroom. The 10-day experience is packed with adventures like exploring the Monteverde Cloud Forest and spying capuchin monkeys all while learning about sustainability and conservation.
Make the World Brighter
Service learning is central to the Rollins mission and a meaningful way to connect with a new culture. Many international programs, such as political science professor Dan Chong’s field study to Tanzania, focus on community engagement and development. These experiences tap into vital problem-solving skills, teaching students to learn by doing and helping others along the way.
Access to Aid
Every semester-long study abroad program offered through Rollins is designed to cost as much as a regular semester, meaning your tuition and housing costs stay the same, and your normal financial aid rolls over. The Office of International Programs offers need-based scholarships and partial awards for short-term programs that occur during winter, spring, or summer breaks and incur additional costs.
