Greenberg Publishes Response to Online Hate

March 24, 2022

Religion professor Yudit Greenberg responds to recent synagogue attacks with an article addressing the issue of online hate.

Religion professor Yudit Greenberg, a delegate at the International Conference on Cohesive Societies in Singapore, was recently invited by the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) to contribute her response to online hate. RSIS Commentary is a platform to provide timely and policy-relevant commentary and analysis of topical and contemporary issues.

“In a world of instant communication and social media, the ease with which hate and bias spread compels us to rethink our approach in education and community learning,” writes Greenberg. “It is important for the state, educators, and religious actors to actively involve themselves in anticipating the different means in which this hatred is expressed, educating people, and developing preventive measures to protect faith communities in every country.”

Greenberg is the George D. and Harriet W. Cornell Endowed Chair of Religion and founding director of the Jewish Studies program at Rollins. Her fields of teaching and research include modern and contemporary Jewish thought, comparative religion, cross-cultural views of love and the body, gender, sexuality, and interreligious studies.
